Atlanta Adventures

1. Visit Stone Mountain.
Thanks, Group Stupid, for helping me check this one off my list. A better day could not have been asked for, good friends, and lots of fun.

2. Visit World of Coca-Cola.

3. Go to a Braves Game.

My aunt and uncle came over for Dale Murphy day, and Aaron and I were able to catch a game with them. Braves beat the Reds, we waved at Dale Murphy, and I ate an exceptional hot dog.

4. Go to a Falcons Game.

5. Go to the Georgia Aquarium.

I have been, and I loved! So many fish too see, I had to get a membership so I can see them all again. The Whale Sharks (below) are humongous!

6. Master a peach-based dessert.

For the Fourth of July, I made peach cobbler, which was sinfully delicious. Especially with homemade cinnamon ice cream to top it off.

7. Reread Gone with the Wind.

What a long book this was! I had forgotten all the book past the end of the Civil War, which is about 3/4 of the book. Little slow at times, but a nice reminder on the South and its history.

8. Visit Savannah.

9. Actually run a 5K.

10. Have a chance meeting with Alton Brown.

11. Eat at The Varsity.

Eaten! I got a glorified burger and chocolate milkshake...and stole some of Aaron's fries. All good, decent eats and a super thick shake.

12. Go to a Georgia Tech sports game.

Aaron and I got tickets for three games, all of which Georgia Tech lost, but it was so fun to watch. Who knew the first time I would see NC State sports would be in Atlanta?

13. Visit a Civil War battle site.

14. Go to Atlanta Botanical Garden's Canopy Walk.

15. Visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum.

16. Visit the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site.

17. Visit the Atlanta History Center.

When my parents visited in early June, we took a day to tour the Center. Who knew this great escape lay in the middle of Buckhead! Better than the museum itself is the amazing garden trails. See the museum, but bring a book to escape in one of the gardens.

18. Go to Dwarf House for dinner (the original Chick-fil-A restaurant).

19. Go to Andersonville Prison.

Other fun things that I have done and found around Atlanta include:
- Georgia Tech's Ramlin' Wreck Parade
- Rise-n-Dine - breakfast is the most important, and tasty, meal of the day
- Georgia Tech men's basketball games: they may not be the best, but it is sure fun watching
- Bantam + Biddy makes some of the best chicken I have had, and I am slowly making my way through all their sides.
- I was able to see Girl with a Pearl Earring at the High Museum of Art - wow!
